Seven is heaven for Town

Nuneaton Town were back at home on Tuesday night looking for a third win in a row, against Allexton & New Parks, a team who had lost 8 of their first 12 games. In came new signing Callum Carsley at left back.

Allexton had the first shot on target within 4 minutes, a deflected effort outside the box that was held by Brandon Bache in the Nuneaton goal. It took just over 10 minutes for Nuneaton to work their first chance, James Spruce getting into the box but the defender deflecting his effort out for a corner, which Danico Johnson headed over.

On 16 minutes though, Nuneaton were ahead, as Cody Mullan closed down a defender on the edge of the box, and duly fired it past the keeper into the roof of the net (1-0).

Just 3 minutes later Mullan was at it again. Good play between Johnson and Mullan fed the latter on the left wing, and he somehow found the net from a tight angle from distance, in one that will surely be in the goal of the month contention (2-0).

Allexton had another rare effort on 25 but again the little that Bache had to do was comfortable.

On 33 minutes it was 3. Johnson, who was being a nightmare for the Allexton defence by now, played a 1-2 with Harrison to reach the byline, and pulled it back for Harrison to slot home (3-0).

Johnson who's hard work deserved a goal had his own effort on 37, but it was held by the grateful keeper.

Mr assist Johnson was at it again on 44, putting a pin point through ball to Spruce who took the ball round the keeper, and despite leaving himself a tight angle, managed to find the back of the net (4-0).

And with Town fans heading to the bar for a half time pint there was still time for another goal before the whistle, as in the third minute of stoppage time Mullan played in Spruce and he slotted home (5-0).

The second half started like the first, with Nuneaton taking a few minutes to settle into the half. But with 52 minutes gone Town were on the scoresheet again. And again it was Johnson who created it, closing down the defender to win a header, and play in James Harrison one on one, Harrison opened his body up and curled it past the keeper into the top corner (6-0).

That was Harrisons last contribution as he and Mullan made way for Louis Baker and Stuart Hendrie.

It was Hendrie who added another on 58 minutes. He won the ball on the right and fed in Johnson down the wing, and found space to slot Johnson's cut back to him home (7-0).

Allexton by now were fearing double figures. Nuneaton though were happy with their lead and rang the changes. Josh Whitehouse replaced Spruce, Justin Marsden replaced Corey Currithers, and Alfie Birta replaced Trevor Edwards, whilst Aaron Williams received a yellow card for a disagreement with Allextons number 15.

Whitehouse nearly added an 8th as Nuneaton passed around Allexton to oles from the crowd, and the cross into the box just evaded enough of his toes to find the net.

On 83 minutes there was some drama, Allextons number 14 Ayrton Carter-Fell was booked for deliberate handball, seconds later Allexton number 12 Lewis Hurst was given a second yellow card and was off after a poor challenge on Williams, who was also removed to allow him to recover. A third Allexton player was booked in a minute as David Gittao and Danico Johnson had some handbags after the tackle, Johnson himself also booked.

Louis Baker should have added another with 2 to play but after going through on goal his effort was over the bar.

A dominant performance, Nuneaton were untroubled, such was the gulf between the sides it could have been any score.

REACTION:

Joint manager Darren Acton commented after the game:

'We've dominated the game in every area tonight, we've created a lot of chances, it could have been even more. Credit to the lads tonight though they (Allexton) have come here and come at us in the first 10 minutes but then we've got hold of the game, we've passed it well and especially first half dominated the game.'

About goals coming from all over the pitch:

'Yeah Cody (Mullan) got 2 tonight, think that's what the team is all about, creating goals for each other. I think Danico (Johnson) got 6 assists tonight! I feel for him tonight because I think he deserved a goal.'

About Callum Carsley:

'He's come in and done very well. Left footed. Played at a higher level, dominated that left side tonight. It might have been too easy for him tonight but he's come in and done a job for us, a brilliant job.'

About a third successive clean sheet:

'Yeah it's good, Dom (Perkins) has come and done a job for us, that's what we're trying to create, it's not just about one player it's the whole squad. We've got 3 away games coming up, Saturday, Monday, Saturday, so it's about using the whole squad, it doesn't matter who plays in our team they can come and do a job for us. Whoever comes in they want to play for Nuneaton Town.'

On the Aaron Williams injury which forced him off at the end:

'He's OK he just needs to ice up. I think he'll be alright just a knock down his Achilles, Kev (Willden) will assess him and see how he is.'
